The Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (amii) performs advanced research and development in the field of machine learning and artificial intelligence. Based in Edmonton, amii is one of three artificial intelligence hubs in Canada.

amii is affiliated with the University of Alberta and has helped make the university one of the world’s top five machine learning and artificial intelligence research organizations according to csrankings.org.   

amii is home to over 120 staff, students and researchers, including renowned researcher Richard Sutton, one of the founding fathers of modern computational reinforcement learning. University of Alberta graduates working through amii are often hired by leading technology firms and top universities.
