On November 16, 2023, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners started construction on Canada’s largest wind project. Amazon has signed a power purchase agreement with the Buffalo Plains wind farm to power their local operations, including AWS data centre and Amazon fulfillment centres.
This marks Amazon’s fourth renewable energy project in Canada and comes on the heels of the recent opening of the company’s Travers Solar Project, which is also located in southern Alberta and is the largest solar farm ever constructed in Canada. Read More
In 2021, Amazon announced their first renewable energy project in Canada. A 80-megawatt solar farm contributing over 195,000 megawatt-hours to the grid.
